House Teams

Your child may have let you know that they have been given a team ‘house’ for sports. The houses are named after some of our fantastic British sporting role-models:

Jessica Ennis-Hill -  CBE,  British track and field athlete
Andy Murray - OBE, Scottish professional tennis player
Rory McIlroy -  MBE, Northern Irish professional golfer
Stephanie Jayne Houghton -  English female international footballer

Half-termly inter-school competitions will be held and the winning house team overall throughout the school announced during one of our weekly celebration assemblies.

Sporting Stars

Beau has attended rock climbing at 'Go Ape' in Marple for 12 months. He focussed on climbing and also bouldering. He has no problem getting to the top of any of the adult walls and in his time there has achieved all the awards: 3 bronze, 3 silver 3 gold and 4 platinum climbing awards. (03 03 17)

Riley has started playing field hockey, training with the Badgers team at Buxton Hockey club. He has been training since January and has really got stuck in. He trains with the Badgers on a Tuesday evening and plays inter-team competitions on a Sunday morning.

He can't play official games for the Badgers team just yet as he is too young (the youngest on the team in fact) but he is doing great in training and having lots of fun which is what it's all about. (03 02 2017)

Ben and James Thornhill took part in a track competition earlier this week, this was the first time James had competed at this level. Both boys did really well in the 75m sprint for their age groups. Well done boys!! (20 05 2016)

Wyatt Barlow took part in the Padfield Plum Fair junior fell race. The weather couldn't have been better for his first race as fellow runners, aged between 7 and 15, came from both sides of the Pennines to take part in the annual event. After watching the Seniors set off for the full course, it was then the juniors turn to go. Wyatt ignored the urge to go off too fast and settled himself at the back of the pack at the start, showing great maturity to pace himself, before gradually moving through the field. Completing the 2km course in 12:25 to finish second in the 'male 9' category and fourteenth overall behind a very strong field. Best of all, every competitor got to receive a prize, and then it was time to cheer the Seniors back across the finish line. (16 09 2016)
